THE SO CALLED "GUN CONTROL" SUMMIT

There is lot being made of the Vice President Biden's upcoming "gun control" summit Thursday. My concerns, are they really going to make a difference as to why we have such high murder rates violence in our inner cities? Will a renewed band aide law proven to not have worked back in the 90's, banning "assault weapons & high cap magazines" bring down rates across the board.

I feel unless the real reasons are addressed, the answer is no. In this panic, we are willing taking away yet again, like was freely giving up due to "Patriot Act" 911, more of our rights guaranteed by our "Bill Of Rights"

Most murders in our inner cities are not mass shootings. Murders committed are usually on a one on one basis and not committed with high capacity assault weapons. You can use hands, feet, knives, baseball bats, a 2x4, fertilizer, , etc. For a variety of reasons, America has and will be a violent society unfortunately. Even if you outlawed every type of guns and put those in jail in possession of them in jail, would that stop the violence without attacking the reasons:

* Mental Health Cuts-The Continuing Crisis

* Poverty

*Single parent homes.

*Disproportionate high incarceration rates of Hispanics & Black males, therefore taking fathers away from their kids.

* Drugs running freely in the inner cities, which maybe the number one problem.

*Gang affiliation

* Violence in our entertainment such as video games, movies, tv, glorified violence and promotion in the lyrics of rap music.

* Record high school drop out rates among Hispanics & blacks.

* The illegal black market of guns. That our gov. turns a blind eye, evidenced by a 40% decrease of federal enforcement of already existing gun laws, of prosecutions under the Obama administration.

*Lack of morals taught & Christianity in the homes as well as a growing atheistic society. Actually this is the number one issue that needs to be addressed. This is where Gov can't help you but one must take the personal responsibly.

So let me ask you. How will an assault weapons ban or even a ban on all guns prevent the next school shooting and bring down the violence in our neighborhoods across the country?

Are we so willing to freely give up even more of our Constitutional Rights and let our federal, state, city politicians, church leaders and ourselves off the hook so easy?

*Note As to addressing the immediate need of protecting our kids at school is providing a thoroughly trained armed security. It's the harsh reality in our world of violence and terrorism of today. Any other way is unrealistic.
